Advanced Underwater Welding Training in Long Beach, CA
In October, Subsea Global Solutions held its advanced underwater welding training course in our training center in Long Beach, providing a comprehensive 10-day program designed to hone practical skills and qualify participants for new joint geometries and/or new welding positions. The course also serves as a requalification for existing certifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and class requirements.
Under the guidance of our instructors Jarrad Schmerl and Uwe Aschemeier, several of our divers from Subsea offices in Miami, Houston, Vancouver and the Caribbean practiced their skills in preparation for test day. On the last two days of the training course representatives from ABS (American Bureau of Shipping), DNV (Det Norske Veritas), and LR (Lloyd’s Register) witnessed the welding and the visual and destructive testing of the test plates to confirm compliance with the class A acceptance criteria of AWS D3.6M: Underwater Welding Code.
To keep up with the global demand for class approved underwater weld repairs, SGS hosts two annual underwater wet welding courses in Long Beach (one for beginners and one advanced course), as well as one course in South Korea for beginners and advanced welder divers for our offices in Australia, Singapore, South Korea and Europe. The courses cater to beginners and advanced seasoned welder divers, to expand our certified underwater welder team and to enhance and keep their professional credentials in underwater welding current for our advanced welders.
